Instituto 17 is an ICT

Instituto 17 is a private, non-profit Scientific, Technological and Innovation Institution (ICT), pursuant to Law No. 10.973/2004 and Law No. 13.243/2016, according to the Bylaws registered on August 5, 2026 (7th RCPJ-SP, No. 80.345). TIC is the structure provided for in the Bylaws for innovation management.

What TIC does

Innovation Policy

Oversees the institutional policy to encourage the protection of creations, licensing, innovation, and other forms of technology transfer

Results evaluation

Evaluates and classifies the results of the Institute's research activities and projects.

Protection and disclosure

Advises on whether to protect or disclose creations developed at the Institute.

PD&I partnerships

Identifies, negotiates, and manages partnership agreements, innovation contracts, and other research, development, and innovation arrangements.

Intellectual property

Monitors the processing and maintenance of the Institute's intellectual property titles.

Research

Research at Instituto 17 is carried out by the Research Center for Life Cycle Assessment, Policies and Energy Transition. TIC monitors the Center's projects, handles the protection and disclosure of results, and builds partnerships.
